FEDERAL WAY, Wash – November 22, 2023 – The Institute for Functional Medicine (IFM) is committed to advancing the highest expression of individual health and the widespread adoption of functional medicine through education, access, certification, partnership, research, and advocacy. Collaboration is vital to the transformation of healthcare and to creating real change for patients worldwide. IFM’s long-standing partnerships with both the Department of Defense (DoD) and the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) demonstrate the positive impact of value-based care and the collaborative care team approach. The successful integration of functional medicine into the VA’s Whole Health system of care has resulted in improved health and wellness outcomes for veterans, their families, and caregivers.

To share the stories and impact of these collaborations thus far, IFM released its Military and VA Initiatives Report in October 2023.

Functional medicine plays a critical role in supporting veterans as a part of the VA Whole Health Initiative and military personnel through the DoD. We are proud to work with practitioners serving active and retired military members through these programs, which contribute to the growing momentum of root cause medicine and the broader advancement of whole health on a national scale. We are grateful for the opportunity to highlight the benefits of the functional medicine approach in improving the quality of patient care, and we are honored to work with healthcare practitioners around the globe.

We invite you to read our new report to learn more about how IFM is advancing the transformation of health care for military and veteran populations: Military and VA Initiatives Report.
