IFM Welcomes Robert Luby, MD, as the Executive Director of Medical Education

For Immediate Release

May 19, 2015

Federal Way, WA—The Institute for Functional Medicine (IFM) is pleased to welcome Robert Luby, MD, as the executive director of medical education beginning full time on July 1, 2015. Dr. Luby currently serves as the director of curriculum and education for the Lawrence Family Medicine Residency in Lawrence, MA, and has 20 years of experience teaching medicine.

A member of the inaugural class of IFM Certified Practitioners and holding board certification in both family medicine and holistic medicine, Dr. Luby will bring a fresh perspective to the Medical Education team at IFM and exercise his passion to push the edges of creativity in teaching.

At Lawrence, Dr. Luby developed the curriculum and oversaw the evaluation of residents in the ambulatory setting, including faculty development and training. He also coordinated the integrative medicine curriculum, using peer observation of faculty teaching and peer review of medical record documentation, and ran faculty training sessions that focused on best practices in adult learning. Dr. Luby has won the Teacher of the Year Award and the Residency Innovation Award multiple times in his current position.

“Despite all of the recent advances in medical education, technical and otherwise, the greatest asset of IFM’s education movement is the members themselves,” states Luby. “In the future, our educational team will leverage the skills and innovations of our members to enhance all of our educational programs.”

He will provide leadership in instructional design for online and onsite learning and will ensure that IFM content remains current with the developing science in all areas of the Functional Medicine Matrix.
