IFM’s Nominations For Your Consideration: The First Evolution of Medicine Awards
The past year has been extremely exciting, and there is much to celebrate about the progress we are making in our shared mission of the widespread adoption of Functional Medicine. At the end of May, IFM will convene the largest international gathering of the Functional Medicine practitioner community at our Annual International Conference. The Evolution of Medicine is hosting a gathering the evening before our Annual Conference to celebrate the “best of” in our community.
We could not let the opportunity pass without sharing our nominations with the goal of joining in celebration of our combined accomplishments. We’d also like to nominate one other category for the folks at Evolution of Medicine to consider: Hardest Working, Most Caring, and Motivated Community. In that category, we have only one winner—the entire Functional Medicine ecosystem of Influencers, Educators, Practitioners, and Industry, as well as the Payers and Regulators that have entered into pilot programs with IFM. We humbly thank you for your hard work and contributions.
Our nominations for your consideration, as they say at the Oscars! Vote here by writing in your nominations

Educator
Robert Luby, MD, Executive Director of Medical Education at IFM, on behalf of all of our outstanding thought leaders, educators, and facilitators, and also in recognition of the over $300,000 of educational scholarships that we gave away in 2017 to academic medicine institutions, and to Integrative Medicine for the Underserved (IM4US) to introduce and incorporate Functional Medicine and Functional Nutrition in academic medicine and to make both accessible to the underserved.
Practice Model Innovator
Tom Blue, Director of Industry Strategy and Partnerships. Tom has led the landmark Functional Medicine Practitioner’s Survey (the largest survey of Functional Medicine Practitioners in the world) and advises and consults on our Practice Implementation initiative as well as with businesses, organizations, and practitioners on innovative and effective practice models.
Media
Evolution of Medicine/Functional Forum for their advocacy for Functional Medicine, for their hard work in hosting live events and podcasts to promote the latest news and trends in our industry, and for helping practitioners apply the latest trends in practice implementation.
Practice Technology
Living Matrix.* With 600 practices and over 30,000 patient profiles, LivingMatrix is the single largest platform for Functional Medicine practitioners. Not only does this valuable intake software save practitioners an average of 90 minutes per day, but LivingMatrix will also be IFM’s greatest tool in gathering outcomes data with their incorporation of PROMIS scores, lab results, etc.
Support Staff
May we suggest the hard working IFM Staff? Whether it’s customer service, conference management, curriculum development, or operations, we think we have the hardest working, most mission-driven and caring staff, and we would love to see them recognized for the care and passion they bring to supporting our mission.
Researcher
Cleveland Clinic Center for Functional Medicine (Mark Hyman/Patrick Hanaway). Drs. Hyman (center director) and Hanaway (director of research) championed the vision to empower a robust and diverse research agenda at the Center for Functional Medicine.
Leadership
Laurie Hofmann, CEO of IFM. We are so proud of what our community has accomplished under Laurie’s leadership. She expanded Functional Medicine training internationally (to China, Peru, Australia, UK, Ireland, South Africa, Mexico, and Brazil); led the collaboration between IFM, Cleveland Clinic, and Dr. Mark Hyman; and developed the current Strategic Plan, which both introduced and catalyzed ecosystem-wide collaboration and cooperation to advance Functional Medicine. Finally, Laurie led the organization to the completion of the IFM Certification Program curriculum.
We appreciate your continued support of the Functional Medicine Movement. And thank you for voting!
Sincerely,
Andie Crosby
