Linus Pauling Award in Functional Medicine

Recognizing Achievement & Excellence in the Field of Functional Medicine

Established in 1996, the Linus Pauling award was first presented at the 3rd Annual International Symposium on Functional Medicine in Vancouver, BC. This award honors influential clinician and thought leader Dr. Linus Pauling, who contributed significant advancements to science and medicine. Jeffrey Bland, PhD, co-founder of The Institute for Functional Medicine (IFM), worked with Dr. Pauling early in his career and established this award as a way to honor the life and achievements of this visionary scientist. In 2011, Jeffrey Bland was awarded the Linus Pauling Achievement Award.

The Linus Pauling Award is given to a clinician or researcher who has made a significant contribution to the development of functional medicine, either through research or activities that extend the access, impact, and influence of the functional medicine model within the healthcare field. This award has become a recognized achievement in the field of integrative and systems medicine and is juried through a formalized process of selection.
