Our People
Tricia O'Brien, MD
Dr. Tricia O’Brien was born and raised in rural Massachusetts. She relocated to Texas 25 years ago, received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Dallas, and ultimately received her medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX, in 2006. She trained in both general surgery and family medicine at University of Texas Southwestern in Dallas, Texas. During her residencies, both of Dr. O’Brien’s parents were diagnosed with rare forms of cancer. Her experience as a doctor and primary caregiver offered her insight into the failure of Western medicine to acknowledge and treat the whole patient rather than the disease. In order to fill the voids she found in the conventional healthcare system, she changed the focus of her career and began training in Functional Medicine with The Institute for Functional Medicine in 2013 and became an IFM Certified Practitioner in 2017. She has had a thriving private Functional Medicine practice in Frisco, TX, since 2015 and is passionately committed to changing the practice of medicine and how medicine is practiced.
