Kurt Hong, MD
Dr. Kurt Hong is a professor of clinical medicine and the executive director of the Center for Clinical Nutrition and Applied Health Research at University of Southern California. He specializes in treating patients with obesity, metabolic diseases, and other age-related nutritional disorders and currently holds joint appointments at USC Keck School of Medicine and USC Davis School of Gerontology. Dr. Hong received his medical degree with distinction in research from Harvard Medical School and a PhD in cellular and molecular pathology from University of California, Los Angeles.
Dr. Hong is dual board certified in internal medicine and clinical nutrition, and has been involved in metabolic disease research over the past 20 years. Current interests include the study of macro and micronutrients affecting energy metabolism, impact of lifestyle intervention on healthcare utilization, nutrition support for aging, and application of innovative computational machine learning for management of chronic diseases. Dr. Hong is an investigator on NIH-funded studies and has served on multiple editorial boards and national organization committees—including the Obesity Society, Southern California Clinical and Translational Science Institute, and the American Society for Nutrition. As a well-recognized expert in his field, Dr. Hong contributes regularly to national magazines and other media outlets, and has been named a Top Doctor by Los Angeles Magazine and by his peers to Best Doctors in America.
